Got more than I put in

The tour has a service where you drop off your laundry in the morning, they have it done for you, and you get it back the same night. They charge by weight. I just got mine back today and found that I got more back than I dropped off. Looks like someone will be missing quite a bit of socks.

Reports of two ampatheaters were confirmed today.when Kyle and I found that all our co workers were working indoors (three on mainstage, four on the other stage split in two). While our stage was dutifully set up in the rain outside. That didn’t stop us though. Did the whole load in in the rain. I completely changed my stage organization which took awhile to map out but was worth it when it started pouring later on in the day. The akas were once again stopped due to lightining. But when it was ok to start again they picked up right in the middle of the song they left off on. Killer.

Georgia rain

Made it allmost through the whole day without rain. Then right during
the second to last act the stage manager rushes up and says there’s
major wind, rain, and lightning inbound. I start packing up as the act
finishes and the next act says no way. So we start packing up
everything. Just as I pull a couple cables the rain just starts
pouring. We got everying out in the rain and got back to the bus at
the earlyest time ever. 8:50 PM.

A Typical Day

Heres what I do on a typical day.

First thing to do is find my stage.

Usually this is somewhat challenging since there are a lot of band and vendor tents. Heres the vans skate ramp going up. More often than not its my neighbor.

Finally a stage. 8:30am.

Kyle at FOH looks very happy in the morning

This magical invention saves humans from pushing the most henious invention, known as barricade carts, on and off trucks.

It also delivers generators
An interesting side note to about three of you out there reading this. All the generators have three phase tie ins, but my power is single phase four wire. The connectors are the same and the phase isnt important, but theres an extra hot wire at the generator every time I tie in. Have to be very carefull that no one plugs it in and energizes the extra blue cam laying on my stage. yeek!

Some very happy crew got the truck completely unloaded. Throughout the day its used as a hangout and preparation spot by the stage manager Simon and backline tech Randy

A genius idea so that a truck can be unloaded to two places at once.

A genius idea to avoid pushing cases with small rollling wheels over small rocks that like to get caught in small rolling wheels.

Heres my world set up with some well placed stairs (the black cases) and cooler full of water.

My console leveling system.

on the left is the splitter. The colored cords are all the snake inputs, usually theyre pluged 1-1 2-2 etc into the MON FOH split, but occasionally things get moved around. On the right are my wedges and sidefill amp racks.

The fully set up view from FOH

The fully set up stage.

My rat trap sidefills. Have yet to see how loud these guys can get.

The power distro, mains amp rack, and my sidefills amp rack.

One day in AZ it was 106 and my racks started overheating. The funny thing is everything except the sidefills (which have crest amps) went down.

My neighbor the skate ramp

One thing about the warped tour is the bands haul their own gear. Everyday.

Decided to take a walk around and see the other stages. Some have very cool internal PA’s and get set up really fast in the morning.

The only other stage with an analog FOH console.

The line assembles

Doors arent open yet but theres still quite a bit of people about

Sara Hiding by her stage

Sara with a slightly more complex set up than me.

Blue cables are power.

Six subs a side

Chris and Sara

My unshaven self

Tom looking surprised

Production in their very official looking office

And now for some bands

The first is Therefore I Am

Looks like theyre missing Alex the lead singer, lets see if we can find him.

and no I didnt point the camera in the wrong direction. You can find the lead singer on the right next to the barricade. Look for the readheaded guy with the mic.

Next up is Shad, with DJ Teelo.

Interparty System set up and waiting on deck.

Some backup vocals by Andy from FOH

My new Yamaha M7CL

Dr Madd Vibe the MC

Watch out for the AKA’s, they’re everywhere.

The Architects

Atack Atack (with triple the normal security)

My very good view of the stage. Usually I have to lean way to the side.

TV / TV

Brokenside

Time to pack up and get out

With my truck packed and my day done I went to see other stages. Heres Jarad on his 5D

Babyfood on his Heritage

And that was it for the day. Most days for me end around 9:30. Time to hit the bus and find a shower.

I had a some time to take photos because one of my bands got sick and didnt preform. After taking these shots I swung back by the bus to drop off my camera and then went back to my stage, where the rain let up a bit. After a few min though it started pouring. Right at the beginning of Atack Atack’s set. The band and crowd didnt seem to mind and both went nuts. There was seriously steam coming up from the mosh pits. a very wet load out then followed and everything got packed up for the next day.
